Taste & Smell Clinic
UConn Health’s Taste and Smell Clinic is a leading destination for people with smell disorders across the state of Connecticut. We perform expert evaluations of patients to learn the extent of the disorder and rule out any underlying medical conditions that could be affecting your taste or smell.
Get to Know Our Clinic & Treatments
Approximately 2 million American adults suffer from taste or smell disorders. Our Taste and Smell Clinic was established in 1981 with funds from the National Institutes of Health and is one of a limited number of such taste and smell research centers in the country.
Smell Testing We Do
We conduct the Connecticut Chemosensory Clinical Research Center (CCCRC) smell testing. This test assesses the ability of individuals to perceive, distinguish, or identify odors.
Connecticut Chemosensory Clinical Research Center (CCCRC) Test
The CCCRC test is one of the most widely used smell tests worldwide due to its high diagnostic value and low cost. It evaluates both the threshold of your smell sensitivity and the ability to identify different odors, allowing for a quantitative and qualitative olfactory assessment. The CCCRC test also independently evaluates each side of the nose.
