What Is Achilles Tendinopathy?
Achilles tendinopathy is a condition that causes pain, swelling, and stiffness in the Achilles tendon, a strong fibrous cord that connects the muscles in the back of the calf to the heel bone. It is an overuse injury common in runners and those who participate in sports requiring a lot of jumping.
Symptoms
The pain is slow in onset and eventually becomes too painful for exercise. Patients should seek treatment when pain begins to avoid rupture of the tendon.
