UConn Health and ConnectiCare Have Reached an Agreement

The Academic Advantage

Collaboration

UConn Health is home to the UConn School of Medicine, UConn School of Dental Medicine, and UConn Graduate School programs. Because we are an academic medical center, patients receive the advantages of the latest innovations and research in healthcare. UConn Health providers are leaders in their fields, including emerging areas of medicine, dental medicine, and basic and translational clinical research, and many have received national and international acclaim.

Research

Since UConn Health’s inception, research has been part of the institution’s fabric. Our faculty is committed to performing high-quality research to expand the successes of modern medicine and propel the development of new and innovative drugs and treatments.

A decade following the state’s Bioscience Connecticut initiative, UConn Health, and its campus have been transformed, with the institution experiencing unprecedented growth in the recruitment of new faculty and record-breaking increases in patient care volumes.

Bioscience Connecticut’s investment has catapulted Connecticut’s only public academic medical center to the forefront of cutting-edge health care, medical and dental education, innovative biomedical research, and the bioscience industry in the state. Thanks to Bioscience Connecticut, UConn Health is home to a spacious outpatient pavilion, hospital tower, and renovated patient care clinics, increasing healthcare access for the citizens of the state. Expanded academic areas accommodate more medical and dental students, renovated research laboratories, and space for biotech startup companies fueling scientific discoveries. UConn Health now has more than 30 startup companies.

UConn Health’s schools and research enterprise, awarded more than $125 annually in competitive grants, are providing Connecticut with tomorrow’s health care workforce and the breakthroughs patients need. Plus, collaborations with The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine (JAX) located on UConn Health’s campus accelerate research advances in genomics and translational research for greater personalized medicine in Connecticut. The UConn Health/JAX partnership is attracting world-class research talent. UConn Health also recruits jointly with our longtime affiliate, Connecticut Children’s, to bring pioneering physician-scientists in the fields of pediatric disease research to fill critical gaps in clinical care and to identify much-needed cures for pediatric diseases.
