Glomerular Diseases

What Is Glomerular Diseases?

The Glomerular Diseases are kidney diseases that affect the glomeruli, the small filters of the kidney. These filters can become damaged and allow protein and blood to leak into the urine, where they are not normally present.

Symptoms

While this abnormal blood and protein are one of the main signs that a person has glomerular kidney disease, it is not usually something that can be seen with the naked eye. It is revealed with simple laboratory tests of the urine.

Treatment

Our expert nephrologists will perform blood, urine, and kidney tests to determine how severe the disease is, and this may also help determine its cause. A kidney biopsy may be needed to make the diagnosis and guide with the treatment. Treatment of glomerular diseases frequently involves medications, but in severe cases, your doctor may recommend dialysis.
