Acid Reflux

What Is Acid Reflux?

Acid reflux disease, also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a common disorder where acid from the stomach travels up into the esophagus, causing uncomfortable symptoms such as heartburn, nausea, and regurgitation. Treatment can include lifestyle changes and medications.

For more severe cases that don’t respond to other treatments, your doctor might recommend anti-reflux surgery. Our gastrointestinal surgeons work closely with the gastroenterologists on staff to offer comprehensive care when surgical intervention is necessary.
