Optimize Center for Perioperative Medicine & Surgery Capacity

  • Assess Current State, Review Best Practice Experiences

    In August, a team was charted to assess current state, review best practice experiences from other organizations and make recommendation on next steps. That cross functional work team lead by Ashley McGee (RN) along with Drs. Howard Gutstein (Anesthesia) and Isaac Moss (Orthopedics) presented initial findings direction and needs of February 9, 2026.

    Key take aways and discussion were around the needed Epic build and space for the preoperative clinic. IT work cannot truly begin without the designated physical location being known. Space discussion will follow release of HKS report on campus wide use and availability, expected in early March.

    In parallel, Carlos Iitsuka to work with Center for Perioperative Medicine group on economic assumptions and offsetting revenues to help inform choices on staffing and potential renting incremental space.
