Gallbladder Surgery

What Is Gallbladder Surgery?

During a cholecystectomy, commonly used to treat gallstones, cancer of the gallbladder, and other disorders, the surgeon will remove the gallbladder.

Gallbladder surgery is one of the most common surgeries performed today, and UConn Health performs hundreds of these procedures annually. The majority are minimally invasive and are performed laparoscopically which leads to shorter and easier recoveries.
